Fauxtog.com est 1998, fauxtog moniker est 1991, Comic below 2006 I knew they would get it someday. Sadly they are only partially right.
It was a play on words phonetics and multi lingual. combined with the new digital age
I became very adept at retouching early in the 90's I considered this a new era for photography, that needed a title. In a whimsical moment I called it and me fauxtog.
Sadly it has taken on a negative connotation but rightly deserved due to the overwhelming amount of amateur hacks that the digital era nurtured.
faux = fake in French
tog, tag = day (or light)
in German

I am a skilled studio photographer and lighting director I fake daylight!
I should also state where this came from. in the 70's a very sexy blonde woman I knew drove a BMW with the plates PHOXX.
after seeing that I created the spelling fauxtographer, but never used it till AOL came into being in 1991 or so.
Research the AOL archives from the early 90's (if they exist)and you will find two monikers fauxtog and fauxto, ME
